"Every morning is a beautiful morning."
The goal: rise with the sun, why?
1. The first hour of our day sets the tone for the remaining 23 hours.
Spending the first hour of the morning, undistracted, at peace and content will set the tone for the many curve balls we may be thrown during the day. I spend my morning concentrating on the important things, my intentions for the day, mapping out my most important things I want to accomplish, what needs to be done and mentally preparing myself for the day. Hitting the snooze button, and feeling rushed in the morning just sets us up for an emotional unbalance, unorganised and feeling like sh*t (well that's how I feel in the morning when I hit the snooze button over and over again!) Feeling calm and organised in the mornings radiates throughout the rest of our day and evening.
2. Pause the dreaming and start acting
Do you ever dream about this incredible life? filled with everything you really want to achieve, do, or create? That book, that brand, that goal you dream of but feel like you have no time to make a reality? Rising before the sun is where it's at! Filled with calm, fresh, inspiring thoughts and ideas.. use these mornings to start putting pencil to paper, use your creativity first thing in the morning to be productive!
3. You have time to yourself
Crazy thought isn't it? When do you actually have time for yourself? Now you do! The world we live in has constant distractions, all around us. Giving ourselves an hour to ourselves first thing in the morning is so crucial to our happiness and our health. Is there a place you feel like you can completely shut off? a yoga class? pilates? the beach? going for a run? how good does it feel to shut off and just feel centred and balanced. The calm of the morning provides this space to make choices, and create without distractions or influence from the outside. A time to reflect, a time to set some goals, to meditate, read, write, create.. "filling our own cup first will help us show up in the best way possible for everyone else in our life."
Waking up early means getting into the habit of going to bed earlier too. Our body's internal clock naturally encourages this, early to bed and early to rise will result in a restorative sleep!
If you're currently going to bed really late and sleeping in, just start small, take it slow and go to bed 20 minutes earlier and wake up 20 minutes earlier until you feel like you can increase it by more. Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep a night, or whatever helps you feel at your best.
